Krasta Station at Riga Port being disconnected from rail network – Andrejsala reunites with Riga center after 115 years

Continuing the development in Andrejsala, on July 28, 2020, "Latvijas dzelzceļš" carried out the reconstruction of the railway infrastructure in the section Zemitāni-Rīga-Krasta. As a result, the historic port coal railway station - "Rīgas Krasta" - has been disconnected from the common railway network.

This means that the territory of Andrejsala and Andrejosta is completely freed from port operations, opening these territories for further development, stopping coal pollution and wagon noise caused by port services in the center of Riga so far. The territories of Andrejsala and Andrejosta become a part of the center of Riga after a break of 115 years.
